Canada downs Netherlands 4-0 in International Friendly after second half surge

Canada ended their busy international campaign with a solid 4-0 win over the Netherlands on Saturday as Canada gets set to prepare for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The Canadians scored all four of their goals in the second half, with Jonathan David, Cyle Larin, Ike Ugbo and Liam Millar each finding the back of the net. The Dutch were unable to respond, and Canada cruised to their first victory over the Netherlands since 2007.

The match was played in front of a sold-out crowd at De Kuip in Rotterdam, and the atmosphere was electric. Both teams started the match brightly, but it was Canada who took the lead in the 55th minute through David. Larin doubled the lead just five minutes later, and Ugbo made it 3-0 in the 70th minute.

Millar added a fourth goal in the 85th minute to put the icing on the cake for Canada. The win was a confidence boost for Canada, who are now unbeaten in their last five matches. They will be hoping to continue their good form when they face off against the United States in a friendly on June 9.

The Netherlands, meanwhile, will be disappointed with their performance. They were unable to create many clear-cut chances, and they were punished for their mistakes by a clinical Canadian team. The Dutch will be hoping to bounce back when they face off against Belgium in the UEFA Nations League on June 13.
